Safe Harbor is a non-profit, non-government agency in St. Tammany Parish serving women and children who are victims of domestic abuse. They provide a safe place to stay and a variety of critical support services ranging from crisis intervention and legal advocacy to playgroups and counseling for kids.
As a fund-raising event for the shelter, Safe Harbor is recognizing the “Real Men of St. Tammany Parish”. Twelve men have been selected as candidates, and the general public can cast $5 tax deductible votes for the “Real Man” of their choice on the Safe Harbor Web site and at the Real Men celebration. These 12 candidates will also be showcased in a 2011 calendar which will be sold at the gala. The candidates have agreed to help raise money for Safe Harbor by contacting friends, family and their service organizations to buy votes.
